Random e-mails...

As I sit here this evening reading and working through some architectural SharePoint ideas, watching Lost on the other screen and slurping on diet coke with lime, I was flipping through old e-mails and came across a pile from mom.  I have to admit that I miss the random e-mails that I used to get from mom.  The topics were mixed and random, but they always were encouraging.

The love of a mother for her son blows me away and makes me realize all the more what the love of our eternal Father is for each one of us.

No snow in sight...

I'm up early today and looking outside it doesn't seem that there's any snow in sight.  Checking the weather maps it looks like the storm is tracking to the East and yet the weather channel still has a feasibility of a 60% chance of snow.  Chaos algorithm seems to be tossing things off a little.

Is it going to snow or isn't it?

So I live in Northern Virginia... one of the more "interesting" places to live in the country with the diversification of nationalities, ideas and hole in the wall restaurants.  Nevertheless, today it would see is yet another day that we are merely taunted by the weather systems into thinking that it might snow here.

This weekend the major news outlets meteorlogical forecasters all seemed to be stating that it would be snowing loads upon loads.  Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be the case, or is it?

Earlier they mentioned that the storm would track in such a way that it would be mostly a rain event.  And yet on Tuesday we're supposed to receive a healthy "dusting" of snow?

I'm perplexed.  Let it snow!

Arlington National Cemetery...

Spent a few hours over at Arlington National Cemetery today.  Wandering around aimlessly, checking out where we'll be laying mom to rest sometime sooner or later... yes, that's right sooner or later, as we wait for the correct death certificates from the state of South Carolina.  They seem to be taking their time on a mistake on the original certificates.

Nonetheless, decent time to wander about and just think about times in the past spent with mom.  Amazing how a little under three months later and the emotions are still quite raw.

Interested in seeing a few pictures from my gander?  They're all over at Flickr

Loving the Weather...

You know, I love the weather patterns we have here in Northern Virginia - they're quite diverse and different from what you'll otherwise experience anywhere else in the country.  Yesterday was interesting and exciting in some ways, and yet still I made it to and from client site unscathed, albeit white knuckled at times feeling the car wheels loosely gripping the road.

Today on the other hand, required 30 minutes of de-icing before hitting the high way.  The neighborhood roads were definitely icy, but the highways and county roads were cake.  On the plus side of things, due to school closings and late openings, there was an abundance of parking today :)

iPod Follies

Have you ever inadvertently on your iPhone or iPod Touch touched the
screen and told it that you wanted to repeat the track or all tracks?

Well that's what I ended up doing tonight, listening over and over and
over (and over) to Dvorak's 8th symphony's 1st movement. It was so
calming that I didn't realize I was listening to the same music over
and over again. Go me...

Mush

After a long day, my brain is mush.  I don't know how single mom's do it.  I don't know how dad's pull double duty so that their family can make ends meet.  I'm blessed.  Thank you Lord.
